The Southern Maryland Tech Initiative is a community-driven program led by Urban Community Tech, a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, dedicated to expanding access to technology, education, and career pathways across Southern Maryland.
Our mission is to ensure that individuals, students, small organizations, and communities have the technology support and knowledge they need to thrive in today’s digital world.

What We Do

Through the Southern Maryland Tech Initiative, we provide: Affordable IT services for underserved small businesses and community organizations Technology access and support for students in grades K–12 Hands-on IT training and workforce development for young adults entering the technology field Community advocacy and digital assistance for seniors navigating modern technology We focus on practical, real-world technology solutions that create long-term impact.

Urban Community Tech operates as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, allowing us to: Offer significant nonprofit technology discounts through qualifying vendors Reinvest donations directly into education, training, and community programs Expand access to technology for those who need it most Your support helps sustain services while creating broader community impact.

This initiative is designed to support: Students (K–12) interested in learning technology skills Young adults seeking IT training, experience, and career pathways Small and SOHO businesses needing affordable, reliable IT support Community organizations with limited technology resources Seniors who need help using technology safely and confidently Volunteers and mentors who want to give back through technology No matter where you are on your journey, there is a place for you here.
